Happy December

Today I am allowing myself to fully emerge into the Christmas spirit. In preparation for our flats Christmas dinner/party on Saturday I've downloaded the obligatory album and am already feeling all those warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feelings :) I've even bought a 'onsie' (ridiculous I know but sometimes you just have to!) to keep me warm!

I thought as an introduction and a good way to really kick off my new blog, I would post some pictures of the Christmas window displays I admired on last week's trip to London. I have a real interest in VM and although I often can't quite explain what it is that I find so fascinating, it really does intrigue me!

Both Harrods and Selfridges went for the traditional 'white christmas' theme and in my opinion both windows had quite a lot in common. One of the major trends I really picked up on throughout many stores VM was the 'outside-inside' trend. So many windows used sticks, twigs and leaves to create a sense of bringing the outside elements inside. Here are some of the best examples:

 Traffic People off Carnaby Street
 Matthew Williamson
 Selfridges Oxford Street

Another major trend I spotted was birds. This was often integrated with the outside-inside theme, but honestly birds were EVERYWHERE from peacock feathers to swans. Take a look...

 Swans at Liberty's
Doves at Liberty's

This trend isn't particularly new or ground braking, if you ask me, however it does look pretty and fits in with the season perfectly. Woodland animals, and more recently owls in particular, have been popping up on every imaginable piece of clothing and I can see the trend continuing on into spring/summer 2012, through the use of graphics and print as well as in VM.

This has turned out to be a little longer than I first intended but I would love to hear your comments and opinions so feel free... :)

Toodles xx
